CMA Service

The CMA program of recovery is based on the 12 Steps, 12 Traditions and 12 Concepts of Alcoholics Anonymous. The 12 Steps are the foundation for personal recovery and the 12 Traditions help CMA groups sustain their unity and fellowship. The Twelve Concepts of CMA Service provide guidance for service in the CMA fellowship and for spreading CMA’s message world-wide.  The Twelve Concepts illustrate how CMA members can apply the principles of the CMA program to the working relationships within CMA’s service structure. CMA Service Structure

Crystal Meth Anonymous is not organized in the formal or political sense. There are no governing officers; no rules or regulations; no dues or fees. The need for services to crystal meth addicts throughout the world is very important to the Fellowship. Inquiries from both within and outside the Fellowship need to be answered. Literature has to be written, printed, and distributed, and requests for help must be followed up.

CMA is more than a set of principles; it is a society of recovering crystal meth addicts in action. We must carry the message, else we ourselves can wither and those who haven’t been given the truth may die. Hence, CMA service is anything whatever that helps us to reach a fellow sufferer — ranging all the way from the Twelfth Step itself to a ten-cent phone call and a cup of coffee.

What can you do in Service in CMA?

Service is needed at the group level, district level, area level, and worldwide level. You can do General Service or H&I Service. We are all links of service, carrying the message of help and hope to families and friends of crystal meth addicts everywhere. There are many things you can do at the group level to be of service in CMA including but not limited to the following:

  • Bring a friend to a meeting
  • Set-up and break down the meeting
  • Speak at a meeting, share your experience, strength and hope.
  • Welcome newcomers, give them your phone number
  • Say yes to service and grow in CMA.
  • Be Secretary or Chairperson of a Group/Meeting
  • Be a Sponsor in CMA
  • Volunteer in the Intergroup Office
  • Volunteer to bring an H&I meeting into a hospital of institution
  • Answer phones to be there for a struggling addict and/or their loved ones

At the first General Service Conference, the following statement was adopted; "The Fellowship of Crystal Meth Anonymous works a Twelve Step program of recovery. We have not felt the need to elaborate in great detail a specific CMA approach to the Twelve Steps: too many other excellent outlines already exist for following these spiritual principles. But our experience has shown that without the Steps we could not stay sober."
You can be of Service In CMA.

"CMA, as such, ought never be organized; but we may create service boards or committees directly responsible to those they serve. – Tradition Nine"

Crystal Meth Anonymous is primarily a spiritual entity concerned with carrying the message of recovery, but it is also an incorporated, non-profit organization which must comply with state and federal laws. Our service structure is designed to balance these two roles while expressing the group conscience of the Fellowship of Crystal Meth Anonymous.

The primary service activities at the General Services level take place through involvement with the annual General Service Conference. The GSC also establishes budgets, prepares financial reports, and pays expenses incurred at the General Services level. Through its subcommittees, the GSC operates the website, publishes literature, encourages H&I activities, and responds to outside requests for information. Additionally, the subcommittees of the GSC provide services to members and groups, such as the distribution of chips and literature. The General Services Committee (GSC) currently has six standing Subcommittees: Conference, Hospitals & Institutions, Literature, Fulfillment, Public Information & Outreach, and Communications. For a complete explanation of our service structure, members are encouraged to read the CMA Service Manual.
