Sexaholics Anonymous (SA)

Founded in 1979, Sexaholics Anonymous (SA) is a twelve-step program for people to recovery from lust, sex, and pornography addiction. They welcome everyone who feels they have a problem. Sexaholics Anonymous provides hope and solutions to people whose use of lust, sex, and pornography addiction causes problems in their lives and the lives of their friends and loved ones.

Sexaholics Anonymous uses the Twelve Steps of Sexaholics Anonymous (SA), which was adapted from the Twelve Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), to help members recover. They also use the Twelve Traditions of Sexaholics Anonymous (SA), also adapted from the Twelve Traditions of Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), as a guide to operate as an organization. The only requirement for membership in Sexaholics Anonymous (SA) is the desire to recover from lust, sex, and pornography addiction.

Sexaholics Anonymous (SA) is not associated with any other organization, including religious, professional, or governmental groups. Sexaholics Anonymous (SA) also does not have views on outside entities or disputes. The main purpose of Sexaholics Anonymous (SA) is to support each other to stop recover from lust, sex, and pornography addiction, and to turn the individual Sexaholics Anonymous (SA) members’ lives around.

Sexaholics Anonymous (SA) Overview

Sexaholics Anonymous (SA) has three main parts which make up the foundation of the Sexaholics Anonymous (SA) program. They are Recovery, Unity, and Service.

Recovery is taking the 12 Steps of Sexaholics Anonymous (SA) with a step guide or “sponsor”, in order to heal our damaged spirits, rebuild our lives, and recover from lust, sex, and pornography addiction. Taking the 12 Steps involves reading Sexaholics Anonymous (SA) literature, writing, praying, meditating, making restitution to people we have harmed in our past, doing service work, and attending Sexaholics Anonymous (SA) meetings, among others.

Unity is getting involved with the people, the group, and the fellowship of Sexaholics Anonymous (SA). It means arriving at Sexaholics Anonymous (SA) meetings early and talking to people. Attending the meetings and going out with people from the meetings after the meetings. Attending SA activities like SA retreats, SA conferences, SA roundups, SA speaker meetings, SA parties, SA athletic, music events and more. Unity is also participating with other SA members in activities outside of Sexaholics Anonymous (SA), talking to other members in-between meetings, providing support to other members, and more.

Service in Sexaholics Anonymous (SA) begins early in recovery, with new members helping set-up chairs, make coffee, greet other members, and clean up after meetings. As new members get more recovery time, they begin taking on service positions with more responsibility. This may include being meeting treasurer, meeting secretary, other meeting level service positions, “sponsoring” or mentoring other new members, and bringing meetings and literature into Hospitals & Institutions where lust, sex, and pornography addicts can’t get to outside meetings. This type of General Service begins at the meeting level, carries into the local areas, through the “district” level, all the way to national level.

Sexaholics Anonymous (SA) Tools

Sexaholics Anonymous (SA) uses a variety of tools to help members recover including SA Meetings, SA Literature, SA Sponsor, SA Steps, SA Fellowship, SA Events, and SA Service among others.

Sexaholics Anonymous (SA) Meetings: Sexaholics Anonymous (SA) members attend Sexaholics Anonymous (SA) Meetings to learn how the SA program works, to gain strength by hearing other SA members experience, strength and hope, to find support through the SA Fellowship, to obtain SA Literature, to get introduced to the SA Steps, to find a suitable SA Sponsor, to find out about SA Events and to get involved in SA Service.

Sexaholics Anonymous (SA) Literature: Sexaholics Anonymous (SA) Literature includes Sexaholics Anonymous (SA) Books, Sexaholics Anonymous (SA) Pamphlets; Sexaholics Anonymous (SA) Digital Downloads and Audio Recordings, SA Coins, SA group readings and more.

Sexaholics Anonymous (SA) Fellowship – The Fellowship of Sexaholics Anonymous (SA) is just as important as recovery or service. The fellowship is about being part of the community, which is vital for many of us after being isolated and alone for so long. Fellowship is about connecting with each other, holding each other up, and holding each other accountable.

The fellowship benefits our psychological, spiritual, and bodily health. It brings us a reason for living once again, oftentimes after years of being purposeless. Fellowship helps to boost our self-respect, self-esteem, and confidence, while reducing our anxiety and increasing our level of contentment.

Fellowship includes attending SA meetings, going out with people after the meetings, attending SA retreats, SA conferences, SA roundups, SA speaker meetings, SA parties, and a variety of other SA activities including athletics, music, art and other SA events.

Sexaholics Anonymous (SA) Events: Sexaholics Anonymous (SA) Events include SA speaker meetings, SA workshops, SA retreats, SA conferences, SA roundups, SA cruises, SA vacations and other SA events.

Sexaholics Anonymous (SA) Service: As mentioned above, Sexaholics Anonymous Service begins early in recovery and includes SA General Service, Meeting Level Service, District and Region Level Service. Members follow the guidelines outlined by both the Regional Service Offices and Intergroups. There are also local Sexaholics Anonymous service meetings that members attend to get information on SA Service.
