Tempest

Tempest is a modern, online recovery platform, sobriety school and after-care program established in 2012. The brainchild of Holly Glenn Whitaker, the program was inspired and developed by her personal search for tools to address her own journey to recovery. She couldn’t find what she was looking for, so she built a recovery program as she would have it and now shares it with others.

Tempest is a recovery program that helps you stop drinking and feel better. It is proven to reduce the severity of symptoms of Alcohol Use Disorder, anxiety, and depression. As Holly says, “Sobriety isn't just about quitting alcohol and drugs. It's about getting after your best life and having everything you ever dreamed of. It's about living the way other people won't live, so you can live the way most people can't.”

Tempest Overview

The Tempest platform welcomes those who identify as alcoholic or addict and those problem drinkers who may not know how to label their struggle with substance. This novel approach allows support for those who may not be clinically addicted or are “sober-curious” and are searching for a non-traditional method to getting sober.

This 8 week digital course promotes a novel outlook on what it means to give up alcohol and provides a specialized mix of services tailored to the individual’s needs. The program of peer-support and evidence based practices is meant to be open,  welcoming and empowering to all. Curriculum is comprised of lectures, guided meditations, coaching, online workshops Q&As with Holly and her team and community support.

Tempest offers three levels of personalized membership, with available add-ons, to create a recovery program specific to your needs.

Tempest Manifesto

  1. You don't need to hit rock bottom. 90% of people who struggle with alcohol (in the US) are not clinically addicted.
  2. Am I an alcoholic? Is the wrong question. Is drinking getting in the way of living my dreams?
  3. Everything you want starts here. Lay the foundation to build the life of your dreams.
  4. Your edge comes from sobriety. Sobriety, and the refusal to partake in alcogenic culture, is subversive, rebellious, and edgy.
  5. It's not a sad consequence. It's a proud choice. Sobriety is something that you get to do.
  6. You need a holistic approach. Develop your new arsenal of healthy coping mechanisms.
  7. Your only label is your name. You don't need to identify as anything to stop drinking.
  8. It's not incurable. We will rewrite our past and our story.
  9. Failure is a good thing. It’s only temporary, and what the road to success is paved on.
  10. Your hangovers go away. Your social life doesn't. More energy, more money, more time, more self-confidence, better life.
  11. It's not scary. It is the beginning of so much more. It is the beginning of you.
  12. You're not weak or powerless. You are strong, powerful and you can do this!

Tempest Success
