SLAA Service

Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) is a twelve-step program for people recovering from sex addiction and love addiction. SLAA is based on the 12 Steps, 12 Traditions and 12 Concepts of Alcoholics Anonymous. The 12 Steps are the foundation for personal recovery and the 12 Traditions help SLAA groups sustain their unity and fellowship. The Twelve Concepts of Service in SLAA provide guidance for service in the fellowship and for spreading our message of recovery world-wide. The Twelve Concepts of SLAA illustrate how SLAA members can apply the principles of the SLAA program to the working relationships within SLAA’s service structure. SLAA Service Structure

Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous service is performed at the group level, the intergroup level and the national level. Representatives, delegates, trustees, and committee members at all levels of Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous service are the trusted servants of the SLAA fellowship. They do not govern and have no authority. Each individual serves at the direction of the fellowships membership, with only a loving God as the ultimate authority. It is vital to the unity of SLAA that information and service effort flow smoothly between all levels of the Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous service structure.

Service in SLAA ranges from one-on-one outreach to the worldwide work performed by the Fellowship-Wide Services. There are a wide variety of Conference Committees to get involved with, including the Diversity Committee, the Finance Committee, the Literature Committee, the H&I committee and many more. Visit the SLAA Service page to find information on the Conference Committees you would like to join and to see the schedule of upcoming Committee Meetings.

New members are encouraged to get involved in service at the group level of Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous. Once you have established your foundation at the group level, we encourage you to branch to the next level of service at the Intergroup level, before moving on to the national/international levels of Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous service. Ways you can get involved at the local group level include.

  • Bring a friend to a meeting
  • Set-up and break down the meeting
  • Speak at a meeting, share your experience, strength and hope.
  • Welcome newcomers, give them your phone number
  • Say yes to service and grow in SLAA
  • Be Secretary or Chairperson of a Group/Meeting
  • Be a Sponsor in SLAA
  • Volunteer in the Intergroup Office
  • Answer phones to be there for people struggling with their addiction and/or their loved ones

For a complete explanation of SLAA service, members are encouraged to read the SLAA Conference Service Manual.
