County and State Funded Treatment

State-funded rehabilitation facilities are addiction treatment centers that are funded by tax dollars. These state-funded facilities receive government funding in order to provide drug, alcohol and substance abuse rehabilitation and treatment services to people who are unable to afford treatment.

Funding for these facilities varies by state, with many receiving funding through a combination of federal grants, reimbursement through Medicare and Medicaid, and different state budgets. Many state-funded drug rehabilitation treatment facilities accept Medicare and Medicaid.

County and State Funded Treatment Centers

Most state-funded rehab programs have eligibility requirements including, proof of US citizenship, low income, no insurance, and state residency. Other entrance requirements may include proof of identification, social security card, recent TB test, no outstanding warrants, and no drugs or alcohol in the entrant’s system at time of entry,

Most county and state-funded treatment facilities offer treatment at a very low cost, with many being free of charge. But, due to the limited capacity of state-funded treatment centers, individuals may be put on a waiting list until a bed becomes open before being admitted.  The wait to begin treatment once you have been accepted into a program can take a few days, a couple of weeks or more.

What is County and State Funded Treatment Like?

The stay at a county or state-funded treatment facility can vary from one week to many months, depending on the facility and your current situation.
