Debtors Anonymous is a program of recovery based on the 12 Steps, 12 Traditions and 12 Concepts of Alcoholics Anonymous. The 12 Steps are the foundation for personal recovery and the 12 Traditions help DA groups sustain their unity and fellowship. The Twelve Concepts of DA World Service provide guidance for service in the DA fellowship and for spreading DA’s message world-wide. The Twelve Concepts illustrate how DA members can apply the principles of the DA program to the working relationships within DA’s service structure. Members of Debtors Anonymous find relief by working the DA recovery program based on the Twelve Steps, Twelve Traditions, and Twelve Tools of Debtors Anonymous. The Eleventh Tool of Debtors Anonymous reads, “We perform service at every level: personal, meeting, Intergroup, and World Service. Service is vital to our recovery. Only through service can we give to others what so generously has been given to us.”
DA has many opportunities for service at various levels. DA recommends reading the Debtors Anonymous Service Pamphlet, then starting service at the local level, in your home group. Once you have an idea of your available time and talents, you may wish to branch to the next level of service at your intergroup, area, region, and finally at the DA world level.
