Inpatient Treatment Centers
Inpatient drug and alcohol addiction treatment centers (rehabs) provide a safe place for people to detox from drugs and alcohol, while stopping the damaging behaviors they were doing before they arrived at their inpatient treatment center. Once you have detoxed, you begin to learn new tools to live a drug and alcohol-free life, full of positive behaviors. Inpatient treatment centers also provide emotional and social support, so people can begin to build an initial foundation for long-term recovery from drug or alcohol abuse.
Traditional inpatient treatment centers and rehabs generally required a 28 day stay. Today, people stay at inpatient rehabs for different lengths of time depending on a variety of factors including, the severity of their addiction, dual addiction-mental health issues, the type of program they choose, insurance and other factors. In general, people stay at inpatient drug and alcohol treatment centers and rehabs between 28 - 30 days. Many long-term treatment centers offer extended programs of 60 days, 90 days, and up to one year or more, for people who have more serious, possibly long-term problems.
There are a wide variety of inpatient treatment centers around the country and around the world admitting patients daily. Each inpatient treatment center has their own unique treatment plans and addiction recovery curriculum. Many inpatient treatment centers are designed in a hospital type setting with shared rooms, high end cafeteria-style meals, group settings and recreational activities including entertainment rooms, cards, pool and ping-pong. Other inpatient treatment centers offer private luxury suites with gourmet meals and a wide variety of premium amenities, including massage therapists, health spas, pools, saunas, yoga, fitness centers, basketball and more.
Many residential treatment programs offer medically supervised detoxification, full time care and support, as well as group and individualized classes including group therapy, individual therapy, family therapy, trauma therapy, art therapy, gardening and plant therapy, equine therapy, educational coursework, meditation, mindfulness, breath work, life skills, nutrition, acupuncture, massage, addiction recovery and 12-step support group meetings, goal setting and journaling.
