Beginners Meeting Format
Good evening and welcome to the _______________Beginners Series of Crystal Meth Anonymous. This Beginners Series is designed to introduce the newcomer to WHY we are here and HOW we stay clean and sober. The primary purpose of this group is to carry the message to the crystal meth addict who still suffers.
We ask at this time to please silence cell phones and/or other electronic devices.
My name is______________________ and I am a crystal meth addict.
Would you please join me in the Serenity Prayer?
God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage
to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference.
The readings used at this meeting are adapted from the writings of Crystal Meth Anonymous and the text of Alcoholics Anonymous.
I have asked_______________________ to read __________(insert selected reading)
I have shared that I am an addict. Are there any other addicts present?
If you are seeking recovery, you are in the right place. Thank you for being here to celebrate your recovery with us.
The only requirement for CMA membership is a desire to stop using.
I have asked _______ to read ____________(insert selected reading)
I have asked _______to read “The Twelve Steps of CMA.” (or “The Twelve Steps and How They Work”)
I have asked _____to read “The Twelve Traditions”
We invite anyone with less than 90 days of recovery to introduce themselves now and share their day count.
Would those with 90 days to 6 months raise your hand?
6 months to 9 months,
9 months to 1 year,
1 to 2 years,
2 to 5 years,
5 to 10 years,
10 years & over
Do we have any visitors who would like to introduce themselves by their first name only?
The literature-based topics for the Beginners Series are designed to introduce the newcomer to the tools of recovery, focus primarily on steps one through four, and the spiritual principles behind the steps. Our group members offer their service and support through sponsorship and by sharing their experience, strength, and hope. This open discussion format also allows the newcomer to the CMA program an opportunity to share where they are in their recovery.
When sharing, we ask you introduce yourself and feel free to state your sobriety time. Be careful in describing drug effects, as some of us may be triggered, and the desire to use may be heightened. Please remember the recovery of others and avoid glorifying drugs and/or drug driven sex. We realize that this is a part of many of our stories and needs discussion; however, the chairperson or discussion leader may interrupt and refocus.
Please be mindful of others by limiting your share time to no more than 4 minutes, so that everyone is given an opportunity to share. The timekeeper will give a one-minute warning so that you have enough time to wrap up your share; he or she will also let you know when time is up.
Would someone please volunteer to keep time? Thank you __________ for your service.
Please help me in welcoming our discussion leader __________, who will share for 5-10 minutes on Step__________.

As you leave here, please remember and respect the anonymity of others. This means I can say I was here and I am an addict, but I cannot say you were here and you are an addict. This applies to Facebook and other social media as well.
I have asked ______ to read (insert selected reading) and lead us in the Serenity Prayer.
