Online CMA Meetings
[This format is offered as a starting point from which meetings can develop a script that best serves their local fellowship. Text and individual readings may be included or omitted as per group conscience.]
[Mute all]
Welcome to the online [your group] meeting of Crystal Meth Anonymous. The primary purpose of this meeting is to carry the message to the crystal meth addict who still suffers. All are welcome, especially newcomers.
My name is __________, and I am a crystal meth addict.
Please treat this as you would any other CMA meeting. Please respect the recovery of others by not vaping or smoking on-camera, and by being appropriately clothed for a meeting.
To reassure everyone, this meeting will not be recorded.
Please join me in the Serenity Prayer:
GOD,
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
Courage to change the things I can,
And wisdom to know the difference.
I have shared that I am an addict; are there any other addicts present? Welcome! If you are seeking recovery, you are in the right place.
I have asked ________ to read What Is CMA
The format of this meeting is:
- Selected readings
- Speaker/Lead
- General participation
- Seventh Tradition and announcements
- Celebration of recovery milestones, and
- Closing
[Unmute all and allow time for newcomers to identify themselves]
The most important person at any meeting is the newcomer. Would those in their first 30 days of clean time or just coming back please introduce yourself by first name only. This is not done to embarrass you but so that we may get to know you better.
Do we have any visitors or anyone at this meeting for their first time?
[Mute all]
For those who are new or coming back, please don’t hesitate to contact members who have been around for a while, for they will be delighted to share their experience, strength, and hope with you.
[If you assigned readings:
Introduce the reader, then be sure to unmute them so they can be heard by the attendees]
I have asked __________ to read ___________.
The Twelve Steps: A Plan of Action
Daily Meditation
Please help me welcome our speaker/discussion leader, __________.
[Speaker shares for ______ minutes.]
The Seventh Tradition states that each group ought to be fully self-supporting, declining outside contributions.
We will now observe the Seventh Tradition electronically, via _____. Please see the address in the chat. Your Seventh Tradition contributions help keep this meeting going and will be disbursed throughout CMA’s service structure.
The meeting is now open for general participation. We suggest that you have 24 hours of clean time to share and ask that you limit your share to no more ___ minutes so that we can hear from as many of you as possible. Our spiritual timekeeper ________ will help keep you on track.
As in most CMA groups, we don’t cross-talk, engage in dialogue or debate during the meeting, or interrupt each other.
When sharing, we need to be careful in describing drug effects. Please honor the recovery of others and avoid glorifying drugs, drug use, and/or drug-driven sex.
[Provide instruction on how to be recognized for sharing.
Unmute/mute individuals during share.]
[Open sharing until 10 or 15 minutes remain.]
Before we close, does anyone have a burning desire? That is when you feel you may go out and use, or harm yourself or someone else if you don’t get an opportunity to speak.
[Unmute all]
Does anyone have a recovery milestone to share with the group?
[Mute all]
Are there any CMA or other recovery-related announcements?
Let’s thank all those who participated in making our meeting a success, and especially our speaker __________.
And again a warm welcome to our newcomers, visitors, and first-timers to this meeting.
We will keep this meeting open for a few minutes after its conclusion. If you are looking for a sponsor, recovery literature, a phone list, or you’d just like to learn more about CMA, please stay and we will be happy to speak with you.
As we close, please remember the Twelfth Tradition states, “Anonymity is the spiritual foundation of all our Traditions, ever reminding us to place principles before personalities.”
We ask that
WHOM you see HERE,
WHAT you hear HERE,
WHEN you leave HERE,
Let it stay HERE.
HEAR! HEAR!
Now, would __________ please read ___________(“Today I Can” or “I Can Stay Sober” or “There Is Hope”) and then lead us in the Serenity Prayer?
[Unmute all]
"God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference."
KEEP COMING BACK...IT WORKS!
