Step/Tradition Study Meeting Format
This type of meeting is intended to facilitate a deeper understanding of the Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions. Each week the group reads an essay on a Step or Tradition from a group conscience approved text. Over the course of 12 weeks the group goes from Step 1 to12; then over the next 12 weeks go from Tradition 1 to 12. As an alternative, the group could, read Step 1 the first week, then Tradition 1 the next week and so on.
LEADER:
“Good evening, and welcome to the _________________ meeting of Crystal Meth Anonymous. My name is ___________________, and I am a crystal meth addict. If you are seeking recovery, you are in the right place. Thank you for being here and sharing your recovery with us.”
“Before we begin this meeting, let us have a moment of silence.”
“Would you please join in the Serenity Prayer?:”
God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage
to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference.
“As we start our meeting, please remember to silence all mobile devices.”
Crystal Meth Anonymous is a fellowship of people for whom all drugs, especially crystal meth, have become a problem. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stay clean and lead a sober life. The fellowship advocates complete abstinence from crystal meth, alcohol, medications not taken as prescribed as well as all other mind-altering substances. There are no dues or membership lists – each group is expected to be self-supporting through its own contributions. The Twelve Steps of CMA are suggested to provide us with a plan with which to build a sober, better life. We believe that if we work these simple steps we will live a life free of active crystal meth addiction.”
“We ask several questions at this meeting to better acquaint ourselves with one another, but not to embarrass anyone. I have shared that I am an addict, are there any other addicts present?”
“Is there anyone here in their first 30 days? If so, please introduce yourself by giving us your first name.”
“Is there anyone else at this meeting for the first time?”
“To everyone here tonight, welcome! If you are seeking recovery, you are in the right place. Thank you for being here and sharing your recovery with us. For those who are new, please don’t hesitate to contact members who have been around for a while, as they will be honored to share their experience, strength, and hope with you. The Twelve Stwps of CMA are suggested to provide us with a plan with which to build a sober, better life. We believe that if we work these simple steps we will live a life free of active crystal meth addiction.”
