Recovery Prayers
Throughout the ages prayer has been used to open people’s hearts to a power greater than themselves, some creative energy within us and the universe for a variety of reasons. These include worship, confession, thanksgiving, petition and intercession among others. In 12 step, non 12 step and other recovery programs, prayer is used extensively along with meditation. Prayer can take a variety of forms including liturgy, ritual, hymns, incantation, meditation, formal statement, spontaneous utterance, and song. Prayer can be performed at anytime and anywhere, whether alone or in groups.
